Kimiko Tokisaka
Quick Recap
Kimiko's current existence is the embodiment of the Death arcana. Having been brought up to the level of strength that she had had before, the young maiden had financial strength, financial backing from a stronger force, muscle to command, and a body that, while afflicted, was still very much capable. With the poisoning, she was physically brought down, both her body and mind suffering massive blows. Now, she faces the end of the Death. She'll either wither away and truly die or change and rise beyond where she once stood.
In the past, she had been somewhat paranoid, but managed to trust people after their persistence proved to be endearing. She often performed background checks to ensure that they were indeed honest. Those admitted to her small circle of friends were rewarded with the loyalty of a girl capable of both innocent shyness and devilish wrath. Though coldly polite, she was more than capable of entering a brawl of words or of fists, especially on the behalf of those she liked. She was a romantic who honestly thought the concept of being rescued when she needed it most was both cool and sweet.
Of course, she was also demonically sadistic- vanilla-flavored towards her friends, while going all-out on others. She lived a double-life, always telling just enough lies that allowed herself to keep her school life and her private life separate. She was ruthless when the situation called for it, and often filled the role of the emotionless, methodical tactician when deals or operations needed some command to keep things in order. She was a maiden in the eyes of her classmates, but, around her second “family”, she was much closer to a demonic princess. She was viewed with respect, awe, and fear by those under her- many considering her a more than capable heir to the family whenever the leader finally stepped down or passed on.
But then the incident happened.
Now, her body fails her, no matter how much willpower she uses in trying to get it to move properly. Her inability to eat food without causing pain to herself, along with her physical weakness, has caused depression to come down hard on the girl. Those that had once revered her with complete respect derided her usefullness by telling her “not to push herself”. Regardless of whether or not they had ill will, the constant assurances and concerns only served to crush her self-confidence. When she was shipped off to a new place, even though she understood the positive thinking behind it, she could only find herself thinking that she was being moved under the carpet- just a tool that had no further use to its owner.
Now, Kimiko simply doesn't care about her surroundings. Where she once feared death, the thought of dying now ranked about the same as what was for dinner any given night- assuming she would eat at all. She no longer has the drive to stand up to those that think so highly of themselves that they'd try to use their own influence over others, and she no longer cares who comes up to her, or for whatever reason. Where she once could not sleep, either from insomnia or night terrors, she finds herself spending most of her time doing just that. [/font]
Friends
Aside from those that might have known her back on the mainland, very few pre-established relationships could fall into this bit. She's much more approachable now, even if she doesn't seem to care about much of anything anymore, so it would not be too hard to become friends with her- though she may or may not share the same feelings. While she'd be point blank about everything, honest and all, she likely would avoid any questions about her living circumstances, or her physical condition. Perhaps someone curious enough about those evasive responses could break through her apathetic shell and really get to know the fallen devil? Particularly kind-hearted neighbors may also manage to fill this role.
Enemies
It would not shock me if Kimiko made enemies in school. Even if it is a quiet and peaceful region, I would imagine that there'd still be those types that like to start trouble. Given that she doesn't give a damn, she'd probably give said types her honest feelings regarding their actions or roles in that environment. Perhaps someone was the center of attention and the sickly Kimiko managed to steal the limelight? Any number of situations, just in the school, could cause this.
Lovers
Now, while Kimiko is bi, and therefore doesn't really care what her potential other would be, the problem is actually getting to the point that she (one) cares enough to be with someone and (two) finds herself fond of the person. If she does get to the point that she falls for someone, she'd definitely only have room for them in her heart so long as the sensation lasted. If it were a mutual relationship, she'd be faithful until the point of their breakup. Now, with that said, if others were to crush on her or fall genuinely in love with her, that'd be an uphill battle for her favor they'd find themselves in. Would their struggles be in vain, or would she reciprocate? That'd be up to time and the approach taken.
Others
There are several specific roles or ideas that don't quite fit above that I'll describe below. I don't wanna make a separate thread for other stuff, so I'll just list everything important below.
The Revival of the Demon Princess
Kimiko has as much potential for recovery as she does for completely withering away. The maiden needs a boost to her confidence to recover, but it's not something that could happen just over night. Somebody, perhaps a friend or someone who's watched over her, needs to continually bug her until she finally cracks. At that point, she'd go off on just who she was, what she's done, the pain she's caused- essentially a full-blown confession- followed by a challenge, directly telling them that there's not a thing they could possibly do to get in her way, given the powers that support her well-being; not to mention that just killing her would be something she would probably welcome.
Perhaps they'd be appalled. Perhaps they'd think she really was the embodiment of evil she claimed herself to be. Perhaps they'd just be filled with pity. But maybe, if not immediately, they'd realize that, even if she was the devil she claimed to be, that she did have her own sense of morals, her own code of honor. If they decided to help her, rather than showing pity or telling her to “do her best”, they'd likely ask her what the ---- she was doing moping around. I'd imagine with enough pressing, the young woman would finally be enraged enough to rise to the challenge.
After that, the devil may rise again, regaining her dark luster from before, with much more to bolster it.
Naturally, there are a few roles for this. The primary “supporter” is essential to this, as that's the only way she'd really gain a reason to do something again. Aside from that, a bully or annoyance that had been trying to bug, annoy, or even hurt Kimiko while she was in the dumps would be great- specifically for the change of power on the field when she rises up to unleash hell. Defication shall impact the rotating oscillator- several times- at that point. Another potential role to have filled would be the guardian, but that'll be explained in another listing below.
My Friend, My Sword, My Shield
Kimiko, after being adopted by the leader, would have had a guardian chosen by said leader to be trained through their childhood to act as a confidant, ally, and bodyguard for the girl. This individual could be male or female, and their age could match Kimiko's, or be a year or two older. This person would be trained in martial arts, and probably with some melee weapon (blade is likely, but I'm not picky). If they matched Kimiko's age, perhaps they were even enrolled in the same school and class as her before the incident? Whatever the case, this individual would have been raised with a strong bit of indoctrination- essentially seeing the leader and their charge as being two individuals far beyond the average person. Their actual feelings could be a mixture of idolization, affection, or even obsession. Or all- if you like.
Anyway, after the incident, they'd have a number of issues. Firstly, they'd likely suffer their own sort of personal crisis- having allowed their charge to nearly die would be a massive failure in their mind. This would also have caused them to hesitate in offering the emotional support that Kimiko sorely needed during the aftermath. This would have likely caused the individual to put distance between them- and I doubt anybody would stop them at that point. Eventually, they may have gotten over these things, revived their conviction, and followed after Kimiko, acting from the shadows opposed to being around her.
This ties in with “Revival”, as I'm certain that Kimiko would be able to drag the individual into things after intentionally putting herself into a pinch- then formally reenlisting them under her service.
Naturally, this does require a character to be built from the ground up, but the player can use them how they wish for the most part.
The Teachers
I'm sure that Kimiko would be a "favorite" of the teachers. She's lazy and apathetic enough to only do enough work to get a passing score, while managing to do more than all right on any tests thanks to having already covered most of the curriculum that Shigayumi would have offered. She'd either have a proper doctor's excuse from her physician back home or something along those lines to excuse herself from physical classes. So, she'd obviously not be giving her all. Definitely a "favorite". Maybe one or a few of them decides to call her to the faculty office to have a talk one day?
The Police
Kimiko's background with yakuza would be completely hidden, but I would imagine that at least one guy in the police force in Shigayumi would either have ties or have been bribed into service of Kimiko's "gran-papa". This person would likely be receiving a yummy bit of money to simply be nice and help out Kimiko if the need arises. That would also include twisting the law to her benefit, if the situation ever arose. Perhaps this person could be genuinely interested in her, either opting to be a friend or ally of the young lady, and not just a servant?
The Doctors
I'm sure that, even if she did not want to, she'd have to meet up with either a doctor or the school nurse. Actually, in the latter case, she'd likely meet the school nurse often, as the infirmary would be like a handy-dandy "nap-room". In the case of an official doctor, though, that could be arranged- even if she herself wouldn't see the point. All they would know about her condition, though, is that she suffered from a severe bout of anemia, though- unless the doctor at Shigayumi was also on the payroll. If he or she were being paid by gran-papa, they'd likely know about her poisoning.
The Clubs?
Despite the fact that its her last year in high school, I would imagine that one or two of the more casual clubs might try to recruit her- or maybe one of her classmates tries to draw her into one, after seeing how quiet she is. With persistence, perhaps they manage to drag her into a club? Before the incident, she was an avid reader, and pretty skilled with computers. Perhaps the computing club or reading club, then?
Notes
Okay, I'll maybe go back around later and edit some of the above, but, anyway, these are some of the ideas or plots that I'd like to see at some point. Naturally, anything above can be discussed and possibly rearranged if an interested party steps up. Also, some of the things above were just thrown together as I typed. They might seem a little rough of vague because of that- t'is why I'd need to go back later and edit it. Anyway, please let me know in this thread, or through PM, if you're interested in any of it~
