HISTORY:
- November 13th, Mizuki is born on a rainy and cold Friday the 13th. Her mother is a stay at home wife, age twenty-one, and her father is a young business man, age twenty-two. They both met in high school and quickly became sweethearts. They are both from well off families, and her father, Ikuto, is currently being pressured by both sides of the family to take over the ryokans ran by both sides of the family.
- Age 5; Ikuto is finally worn down by his parents, in-laws and wife to take over running the two ryokan chains that both families have operated for generations. Family income swells and Mizuki is suddenly the heiress of a wealthy family. The family moves from their apartment in Tokyo to the ryokan in Shibayomi. The small girl takes to living in the large home well, exploring it like a castle.
- Age 5; Mizuki begins grade school in the middle of the year. She was overwhelmed by the amount of students asking her questions. At first it seemed like she fit right in, but soon she discovered the other students would drift off to their own groups. She was the outsider in this school, and nothing much was going to change that. During recess, while everyone was playing games with their friends, not inviting her to join in, Mizuki sat next to a girl who had been reading a book. This was the start of a beautiful friendship with a girl named Sheryl.
- Age 6; Mizuki is sent home for getting into a fight. She had been helping Sheryl fight other kids, and the teacher wouldn't have it. So, the girl came home early covered in cuts and bruises. Her father is too busy to notice, but her mother worried instantly. She insisted that Mizuki get less violent friends. Mizuki ignored her.
- Age 6; Mizuki and Sheryl enroll into a combat class. While other girls are content playing with their dolls, Sheryl and Mizuki find joy in learning new ways to kick people in the head. Mizuki's mother doesn't like this, and her father has yet to care.
- Age 6; Mizuki notices her mother's face is often bruised. She tells her she should enroll in karate too, so she can beat up whoever keeps hitting her.
- Age 7; Mizuki comes home late and her father is awake to catch her. He slaps her for the first time, causing her to lose a tooth. Luckily it's a baby tooth. Her mother warns her to keep quiet about the event; she doesn't want to bring shame onto the family.
- Age 8; Sheryl hits puberty and enters middle school, leaving Mizuki alone at their old school. While the two of them assist each other in fighting after school and are still good friends, Mizuki can feel a deep shaft forming between them.
- Age 8; As her relationship with Sheryl hits rocky water, Mizuki is home more often to witness the abuse of her mother, and get abused herself. While a majority of the abuse is directed to her mother, when Mizuki isn't obedient, she gets hit as well. Once more her mother warns Mizuki to keep silent or else they'll ruin the inn's business.
- Age 12; Mizuki enters middle school just in time for Sheryl to leave it. Mizuki now has the same reputation Sheryl had, a violent girl.
- Age 12; Mizuki's mother is put into the hospital for injuries she got when pushed out a window by her father. The assault is written off as an accident.
- Age 13; Mizuki and Sheryl rekindle their friendship. She introduces Mizuki to her high school friends, and they get along well. However, there seems to be a pervert among the group, but she doesn't say anything since he's Sheryl's friend it seems. In reality, Mizuki is afraid to ruin her friendship and uses Sheryl to get away from her father every chance she can get.
- Age 14; Mizuki returns home to find red dots covering the hall way of the ryokan her family runs. She took her phone out, prepared to call the police, as she followed the dots to the kitchen. There, she saw a large pool of red before being blind sided by an attacker. As the attacker grabbed her, Mizuki could smell heavy alcohol. Before she could do much but dial the police, cold metal ran across her neck. Warm liquid flows from her neck as her body goes numb. The phone falls from her hand, and Mizuki falls to the ground, left for dead. Luckily, she had already clicked call. When no one answers, a police car is sent to check the call out. They find the door wide open, the father's car missing, and Mizuki laying in her own blood- her mother not too far away.
- Age 14; Her father is caught by the police for the murder and attempted murder of Mizuki and her mother. The family pays to cover up the incident, sending Ikuto to a mental hospital in the north and saying it was an armed intruder that committed the crime.
- Age 15; After several weeks in the hospital, Mizuki is released to start school. She cannot speak properly due to the wound, which is now a long scar across her neck, and she has to attend psychical and metal therapy sessions often. The attack completely shattered her confidence, and she has yet to contact Sheryl, not knowing if she even knows of the assault.
